Become a Catechist…

The word “catechist” comes from the Greek word, ketchein, which means “to echo”. A catechist gives of his or her time and talents to share faith with our youth. We are always looking for faith filled individuals to join us! The catechist assists the efforts of the parents and enhances the support of the parish.

RE Teacher (Catechist) – Assists parents with faith formation through our parish Religious Education program. Lesson plans, and other materials are provided. Weekly class sessions are from September through April.

Classroom Aide – Assist a catechist during class sessions.

Substitute Catechist – Fill in for to lead a class when a regular catechist is unable to attend.

Children’s Events Helper – Help with occasional events within the RE program during the year, i.e., large group classes, Living Stations, etc.

New Religious Education Teachers (catechists) are REQUIRED to attend Initial Catechist Certification Class as well as a Protecting God’s Children session and submit to a criminal background check. Returning catechists are REQUIRED to complete six (6) hours of Continuing Formation in the academic year.
